“Shining,” “Exorcist” Music Influencer Dies

Influential Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki reportedly died on Sunday at his home in Krakow at the age of 86. He reportedly passed away after a long and serious illness.

One of the most prolific composers of his time, his work has been adapted for some of the most famous film soundtracks there are including “The Exorcist,” “The Shining,” “Fearless,” “Wild at Heart,” “Children of Men,” “Shutter Island” and “Twin Peaks: The Return”.

Penderecki’s influence can be heard across various genres, and one of the most in demand film score composers of today – Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood – has cited him as a profound influence on his group’s more avant work and his own soundtrack work.
