“Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan and filmmaker Peter Berg (“Lone Survivor,” “The Kingdom”) are teaming to develop and produce the live-action “Call of Duty” movie at Paramount and Activision.
The project was officially announced early last month, but the two talents were first linked today via Deadline.
The film plans to “thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.”
The aim initially is for a major feature film; however, Paramount also reportedly has the rights to expand the franchise into a universe of multiple films & TV shows should they desire so.
One of the most successful video game franchises of all time, the titles are a series of first-person shooters centred on military campaigns, not unusual territory for Berg, who will not just direct but also produce alongside Sheridan and David Glasser.
Sheridan and Berg will co-write the script. The pair previously partnered on both “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River” in writing and producing capacities.
Berg recently wrapped production on the WW2 film “The Mosquito Bowl”.
