“The Expendables” and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” scribe Dave Callaham is set to pen a live-action remake of its 1997 animated movie “Hercules”.
In addition, “Avengers: Endgame” helmers Joe and Anthony Russo are set to produce via their AGBO production company which also produced the just released Chris Hemsworth-led “Extraction” for Netflix.
The original film was a musical fantasy retelling of the Greek legend with Tate Donovan voicing the demigod looking to reclaim his heroic stature, while James Woods played Hades – the underworld god plotting to overthrow Olympus.
The new “Hercules” is in early development with no director yet set and casting a long way off. It is presently unclear if the new take will keep the musical elements.
Callaham also worked on “Wonder Woman 1984” and the upcoming “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” sequel.
