James McArdle, Emun Elliot, Sarah Greene and Stephen Moyer have joined the cast of the upcoming “Sexy Beast” prequel series on the Paramount+ service.
McArdle and Elliot take on the roles of Gal Dove and Emun Elliot, the characters Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley respectively made famous in the 2000 dark comedy thriller.
The story follows the complicated relationship of the two best friends and small-time thieves living the good life in vibrant and volatile 1990s East London.
Greene will play adult film star and Gal’s future wife Deedee, while Moyer will play rising underworld figure Teddy Bass. Amanda Redman and Ian McShane played those respective roles in the film.
Also onboard are Tamsin Greig, Eliza Bennett, Clea Martin, Nicholas Nunn, John Dagleish, Robbie Gee, Paul Kaye, Lex Shrapnel, Cally Lawrence, David Kennedy, Nitin Ganatra and Alice Bailey Johnson.
Filming on the series is underway in Liverpool, with the project hailing from writer, showrunner, and executive producer Michael Caleo. Daniel O’Hara also executive produces and directs multiple episodes.
