While James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” film has already been completed, the movie doesn’t open until late Summer.

So, Gunn is currently at work in Vancouver on “Peacemaker,” the upcoming John Cena-led spin-off series focusing on his ‘Squad’ character and being made exclusively for HBO Max.

Gunn wrote all the scripts for the series run and is directing at least a few episodes. It’s not confirmed yet if it’s a prequel or sequel to the film, but some characters in the film will appear.

Today, some first look set photos have gone up showing actors onset including Cena as Peacemaker, Steve Agee as John Economos, Jennifer Holland as NSA agent Emilia Harcourt, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Chris Conrad as The Vigilante, and Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn.

Sadly Robert Patrick, who plays Auggie Smith in the series, isn’t in the photos. The eight-episode series will debut in January next year.
