Showtime’s smash hit series “Billions” will end with its seventh and final season this year and now a new trailer has been released for that final run which sees the return of Damian Lewis as hedge fund billionaire Bobby Axelrod.
Lewis left the series after the fifth season but will return for six of the twelve final episodes. An official synopsis for the new run offers zero insight into the new season as it’s mostly a smushing together of cliches.
It reads: “In season seven, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.”
The end of “Billions” comes as Showtime is developing multiple spin-offs, including “Millions,” “Trillions,” and two untitled shows set in Miami and London.
Also today, FX has released a brief ten-second teaser for “A Murder at the End of the World,” the new seven-episode murder mystery limited series which hails from “The OA” pair Brit Marling & Zal Batmanglij and premieres August 29th.
Emma Corrin plays Gen Z amateur sleuth and a tech-savvy hacker Darby Hart who, along with eight guests, is invited by a reclusive billionaire (Clive Owen) to participate in a retreat at a remote and dazzling location.
When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must use all of her skills to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life. Harris Dickinson, Brit Marling, Alice Braga, Joan Chen, Raul Esparza and Jermaine Fowler co-star.
