As a new part of its overall business strategy, SEGA is reportedly planning to expand its storytelling forms by exploring potential live-action film and TV adaptations of games developed by its Japan-based subsidiary Atlus.
The company is primarily known around the globe as the creator of the celebrated “Persona” and “Shin Megami Tensei” game series along with celebrated one-offs like “Catherine”.
IGN broke the news, and quote SEGA’s Toru Nakahara who produced the live-action “Sonic the Hedgehog” movies and the upcoming “Sonic Prime” TV series. He says:
“Stories like those from the Persona franchise really resonate with our fans and we see an opportunity to expand the lore like no one has seen – or played – before. Together, Sega and Atlus, are working to bring these stories and worlds to life through new mediums and for new audiences.”
The most recent entry in the “Persona” franchise, “Persona 5 Royal,” is considered one of the most acclaimed RPG titles of the generation with a 95/100 Metacritic score.
