The second trailer for the highly anticipated “TRON: Ares” has been released by Disney.
The story follows a highly sophisticated program names Ares (Jared Leto) who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.
The film follows on from Joseph Kosinski’s “TRON: Legacy,” the 2010 released sequel to the original 1982 film. ‘Legacy’ pulled in $409.9 million from a $170 million budget and has become something of a cult film with much appreciation of the film’s score and visual style/production design.
Joining Leto in this group are Gillian Anderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Cameron Monaghan, and Jeff Bridges.
Anderson will play Elisabeth Dillinger, a member of the family dynasty that owns ENCOM with David Warner as its chief and the main antagonist in the original 1982 “TRON” feature. Cillian Murphy did a cameo as the Warner character’s son in “TRON: Legacy”.
Now, Anderson’s character comes into play and she’ll be joined by Peters who plays her rebellious son Julian.
Nine Inch Nails is composing the score for the film which was shot in Vancouver last year by filmmaker Joachim Rønning (“Kon-Tiki,” “Young Woman and the Sea”). The film has been co-written by Jesse Wigutow (“Daredevil: Born Again”) and Jack Thorne (“Adolescence”)
“TRON: Ares” is set to hit cinemas on October 10th 2025.
