Netflix has released the second trailer for its long-awaited live-action series adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s famed pirate-themed manga and anime series “One Piece”.

Eiichiro Oda also released a special message for fans, saying production agreed to reshoot numerous scenes at Oda’s request to make sure the entire series was up to scratch. That message can be read in full on Twitter

The eight-episode series will follow the other-worldly adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates crew as they explore exotic islands and endless oceans in search of the ultimate fabled treasure to become the next Pirate King.

However, the Navy is on their ship’s tail, and they’re not the only crew searching for the One Piece. The poster features the Going Merry – the first pirate ship owned by the Straw Hat Pirates.

The series stars Inaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson and Taz Skylar in the primary roles. Also onboard are Morgan Davies, Ilia Isorelys Paulino, Aidan Scott, Jeff Ward, McKinley Belcher III, Vincent Regan, Peter Gadiot, Langley Kirkwood, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward and Chioma Umeala.

The ten-episode series hails from Steven Maeda (“Lost”) and Matt Owens (“Luke Cage”) with both co-showrunning, writing and executive producing. “One Piece” is still slated to premiere on the service on August 31st.
