Second Trailer: Jason Reitman’s “Saturday Night”

Sony Pictures has released a second trailer for Jason Reitman’s SNL launch night project “Saturday Night”.

The new preview comes in the wake of a highly successful launch at the Telluride Film Festival last week with the film currently sitting at 86% (7.6/10) on Rotten Tomatoes.

It also arrives following the news of a shift in release strategy. The title will still score a wide release in cinemas on October 11th as originally planned, but now it will be preceded by a platform rollout starting in LA, NYC & Toronto on September 27th and a limited release on October 4th.

Reitman directs from a script co-written with Gil Kenan and based on a true story. The real-time film follows the behind-the-scenes events in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of “Saturday Night Live” in 1975.

The cast includes Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels, Dylan O’Brien as Dan Aykroyd, Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase, Matt Wood as John Belushi, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radnor, Kim Matula as Jane Curtin, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, Willem Dafoe as David Tebet, and Nicholas Braun as both Jim Henson & Andy Kaufman.

There’s also J.K. Simmons as Milton Berle, Matthew Rhys as George Carlin, Nicholas Podany as Billy Crystal, Paul Rust as Paul Shaffer, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, Naomi McPherson as Janis Ian, Andrew Barth Feldman as Neil Levy, Kaia Gerber as Jacqueline Carlin and Finn Wolfhard as an NBC page.

Jason Blumenfeld, Peter Rice, Reitman and Gil Kenan produce the film which arrives as the show celebrates its 50th season this Fall. Reitman directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Gil Kenan.
