Screen Gems has acquired screen rights to “The Maintenance Man,” Michael Baisden’s bestselling novel about a gigolo in existential crisis reports Variety.
The novel concerns a handsome Julliard grad who puts his aspirations for a music career on the backburner after he becomes a male prostitute who makes a fortune as the hired companion of married women.
Syndicated radio host Baisden will pen the script with Ralph Farquhar. The book has previously been adapted into a stage play and a 2004 straight-to-DVD feature.
