The “Scream VI” and “Ready or Not” filmmaking team of Radio Silence has signed on to direct and produce a currently untitled horror movie at Universal Pictures.

The project was reportedly at one point titled “Dracula’s Daughter” and centers on a group of kidnappers who abduct a band of young people, one of whom ends up being the titular character. You can guess what happens to the kidnappers.

The script was written by Stephen Shields, with revisions by Guy Busick. Universal says the project falls along the lines of “The Invisible Man” and “Renfield” as it provides: “a unique take on legendary monster lore and will represent a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate these classic characters.”

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct with Radio Chad Villella producing. Also producing are William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt of Project X Entertainment which worked with them on their two “Scream” films. Tripp Vinson is also producing.

The announcement comes as “Scream VI” not only set a franchise record opening at the global box office. This past weekend it passed the $100 million mark at the domestic box office.

The team are also doing a TV series adaptation of podcaster/author Alaina Urquhart’s crime novel “The Butcher & The Wren,” and their names have been linked to the long-gestating “Escape from New York” remake.
