Producer Scott Rudin (“Captain Phillips,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) has picked up the film rights to Garth Risk Hallberg’s upcoming novel “City on Fire” which hasn’t even scored a publisher yet.
The 900-page work deals with life in New York City in the days leading up to the great blackout of July 1977.
Characters featured include a journalist, a police detective and a heroin addict, while elements of punk rock, high finance, urban blight, adultery and art are thrown into the mix.
