“Doctor Strange” and “Sinister” filmmaker Scott Derrickson will direct and adapt Joe Hill’s novella “Black Phone” into a feature for Blumhouse and Universal Pictures.
Mason Thames (“For All Mankind”) and Madeleine McGraw (“Toy Story 4”) will star in the story of a young man abducted and locked in a basement that’s stained with the blood of half a dozen other murdered children.
In the cellar with him is an antique telephone, long since disconnected, but which rings at night with calls from the dead.
Derrickson’s frequent collaborator Robert Cargill will co-write the script and both will produce with Jason Blum while Hill will serve as executive producer.
