Martin Scorsese’s much discussed adaptation of David Grann’s non-fiction dark western book “Killers of the Flower Moon” was to begin shooting in March this year but will not start filming February 2021 reports Indiewire.
The Osage Nation is reportedly preparing for a 16-week shoot in Oklahoma from February with pre-production and crew first set to arrive in November and December.
Set in the 1920s, the story focuses on a string of murders of members of the Osage nation in Oklahoma after oil was discovered beneath their land. The series of slayings was one of the fledgeling FBI’s first major homicide investigations.
Oscar-winning scribe Eric Roth has adapted the script for the project which Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have been eyeing for years. DiCaprio and Robert De Niro will star in the film which plans to film in many historical Osage locations.
Apple is financing the $200 million project with Paramount handling worldwide theatrical distribution ahead of an Apple TV+ release. It’s expected the film will arrive sometime in 2022.
