Scorsese Beats Swift In Overseas Box-Office

Apple Studios, Paramount Pictures

It has been a fairly robust weekend at the cinema internationally as Taylor Swift, Martin Scorsese and some cartoon trolls dominated proceedings.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” landed the top spot domestically with $32 million and passed the $100 million mark in that market after just five days of release. She beat out Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” which took in $23 million – considered a very strong start for a 3.5-hour period film.

Overseas however, Scorsese dominated Swift with “Flower Moon” taking in a further $21 million – easily outpacing the Swift concert film with $10.5 million offshore.

‘Killers’ now sits with a $44 million global debut with ticket sales being compared to “Ford v. Ferrari” which ended its run with $104 million from international markets.

The film is the first (and most expensive) of three major upcoming features that Apple is backing with a full theatrical release followed by an Apple TV+ premiere at a later date – the other two being Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” and Matthew Vaughn’s “Argylle”.

Internationally, Universal’s animated threequel “Trolls Band Together” began its rollout in 26 territories with $14.3 million collected, the number pacing just below that of the first “Trolls”. The film opens domestically on November 17th.
