1980s action film legend Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed that his 1988 comedy “Twins” was the film that earned him the most in his career.
The actor recently popped up on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live and confirmed that his highest-paying film was the Ivan Reitman-directed comedy – even as the actual salary he got was essentially nothing.
Arnie says: “We had gotten no money, no salary” to which Cohen said: “You got a piece of the backend?” to which Schwarzenegger responded: “Exactly. And it was fantastic. We went all the way to the bank with that one.”
Schwarzenegger, who is out promoting the new season of Netflix’s “FUBAR,” wouldn’t confirm the exact amount beyond saying it was definitely over $40 million and adding “It was more than in any movie I’ve ever made”.
The movie was a major success, and ended up making more than $200 million worldwide.
As for the long-rumored sequel “Triplets” starring Eddie Murphy, the death of Ivan Reitman seemingly scuttled that as he passed “just before we wanted to start shooting the movie.”
