SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP met officially today for the first time since the actor’s strike on July 14th. In a joint statement, they say a “full day bargaining session” has concluded and negotiations will resume this Wednesday.
Like today and with the writer’s guild talks, the big four CEOs of NBCUniversal’s Donna Langley, Warner Bros Discovery’s David Zaslav, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos and Disney’s Bob Iger are all expected to be in attendance.
The SAG-AFTRA team is represented by a team led by union president Fran Drescher, chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, and chief contracts officer Ray Rodriguez.
According to Deadline, the first day is said to have been “cordial” and “useful” with a source calling it “constructive” and all aware they “need to be talking” and have to “get the town back to work”.
However one of their sources indicates while everyone wants a deal done, it will probably take a few weeks and “won’t be as fast as WGA”.
Meanwhile, the WGA sent out ratification ballots today with members able to lodge their vote over the next week.
