Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy Set “Boy Band” Film

Netflix

“Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds has set up the feature comedy “Boy Band” at Paramount Pictures which will see him reunite with his recent frequent collaborator and filmmaker Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum”).

Details of the project are being kept under wraps, but the film is being described as a comedy about a boy band reunion movie. Musical act reunions have been the subject of some successful laughers of late including the well-reviewed Peacock series “Girls5Eva”.

Reynolds is attached to star and produce the project which he also co-wrote with Jesse Andrews (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” “Luca”).

The project is being eyed as a potential directing vehicle for “Stranger Things” producer Levy as well. If so it would mark his and Reynolds’ fourth film together following “Free Guy,” “The Adam Project” and the upcoming third “Deadpool” which will shoot in London this spring.

The aim is to shoot “Boy Band” this Fall or early 2024 – after “Deadpool 3” wraps but before it opens. Reynolds was most recently seen alongside Will Ferrell in the Christmas musical film “Spirited” from Apple Studios.

Reynolds reportedly originated the story with his Maximum Effort production company and Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment backing it.
