Ryan Reynolds On His “Avengers” Involvement

Marvel

It has been reported that Ryan Reynolds is a part of the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” cast, the actor seemingly teasing it on social media with cryptic posts.

However Marvel has yet to confirm his involvement. EW asked the actor directly while he was attending the Toronto Film Festival today to promote the upcoming John Candy documentary which he produced.

The outlet asked if ‘Doomsday’ would feature any Easter eggs of John Candy, like Reynolds has done in the past three “Deadpool” movies. Reynolds responded:

“There’s four that I’ve got in there. Of course, I’ve written them all at home in my PJs, and nobody’s seen ’em, nor have I stepped foot on set. But, yeah, that’s about as far as I’ll go on that one.”

What stirred much of the talk was his posting of a logo, which he tells Collider is actually from one of his favourite props from “Deadpool & Wolverine” that didn’t make it into the movie:

“The thing I posted on social that is actually a variant of the flag that we use in Deadpool & Wolverine. It was my favorite. For some reason, you watch a movie later that has that many alts and all that stuff, and you go, ‘Why didn’t I choose that one? There were five other great jokes for that.’ That’s how it works, and that was just a flag. I just came across it, and I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I loved that flag. The red and black vibe.’ And then, you know, there’s always talk. We’re figuring out what’s next in that world and blah, blah, blah.”

Specifics of Reynolds’ role in ‘Doomsday’ are unclear, with trade reports indicating he won’t be joining the Avengers in the film.

Plenty of talk has also swirled about Marvel doing a second ‘casting chair’ reveal for the movie, but no such reveal has happened to date. Meanwhile, Letitia Wright also confirmed today that her Shuri character will be donning a new Black Panther suit for the film.

“Avengers: Doomsday” arrives in cinemas on December 18th 2026.
