Ryan Gosling is in final negotiations to join Margot Robbie in the big-budget live-action movie based on Mattel’s classic and iconic “Barbie” toy line at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Gosling would play Ken, who in the Mattel toy line is Barbie’s boyfriend and has appeared on film before – voiced on-screen by Michael Keaton in “Toy Story 3”.

Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach wrote the script with Gerwig set to direct. Plot details for the project are under wraps.

Gosling initially passed on playing the role but due to delays to the start of the film’s production, a scheduling window aligned and he now can sign on.

Robbie is starring as Barbie and producing the feature alongside Tom Ackerley, Robbie Brenner and David Heyman. Filming aims to begin in early 2022.

Gosling most recently shot the $200 million action thriller “The Gray Man,” co-starring Chris Evans, for Netflix and “Avengers” directors Joe and Anthony Russo.
