Ryan Gosling is tipped to star in “The Fall Guy,” a movie based on the Lee Majors-led 1980s TV series about a Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a bounty hunter.

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group will shoot the project in Sydney, Australia with the project set to receive AUD$30 million in funding from the Australian federal government’s location incentive scheme. It will get a further AUD$14.5 million from the state government’s Made in NSW fund.

Majors, Douglas Barr and Heather Thomas all starred in the original as stunt performers who used their Hollywood knowledge to catch swindlers, thieves, bikies, conmen, fugitives and corrupt officials – sometimes disguising themselves to do so. The series hailed from famed “Battlestar Galactica,” “Knight Rider” and “Magnum P.I.” creator Glen A. Larson.

No writer or director is yet attached. Gosling is currently starring alongside Margot Robbie in “Barbie” and has both “Wolfman” and “The Actor” in pre-production so dates for filming on “The Fall Guy” are unclear.
