Eric Bana and Edward Norton took a crack at it, but Mark Ruffalo has become the fan favorite as The Hulk in the various Marvel Studios. The character has also undergone changes over his time in the films, to the point of Professor Hulk now being the new status quo following “Avengers: Endgame”.
So what is the future of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? We know there’s an upcoming “She-Hulk” series in the works for the Disney+ streaming service, one which is rumored to have Ruffalo’s Hulk making an appearance.
In a recent interview with Variety, Ruffalo confirmed that talks have happened for him appear in the series, but it’s not official as yet. For now though, it’s also the only thing the character is being considered for:
“There’s nothing completely at a place where it’s a done deal. There’s some talk of having Banner/Hulk show up in [the Disney Plus series] ‘She–Hulk.’ If we come up with something good, that would be really interesting. Right now that’s about it. That’s all there is on the table.”
That indicates it’s unlikely Hulk will show up in any of the Marvel Studios in the near future – “Black Widow,” “Eternals” or “Shang Chi”. Ruffalo however says he’s got some Hulk ideas of his own:
“There’s an idea that I think could be really interesting. We’ve never really followed him into his life. He’s always kind of off on the side. He’s like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Avengers. It’d be interesting to fill in all the blanks about what happened to him in between all these movies.”
Ruffalo isn’t the only one offering some Marvel updates at the moment. Filmmaker Sam Raimi has finally confirmed the long standing reports that he’s set to direct “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. Out promoting his new Quibi series, Raimi confirmed the hiring to Coming Soon saying:
“I loved Doctor Strange as a kid, but he was always after Spider-Man and Batman for me, he was probably at number five for me of great comic book characters. He was so original, but when we had that moment in Spider-Man 2 I had no idea that we would ever be making a Doctor Strange movie, so it was really funny to me that coincidentally that line was in the movie. I gotta say I wish we had the foresight to know that I was going to be involved in the project.”
Sader news though has come from actor John Krasinski. The “Jack Ryan” star was rumored to have had a virtual meeting with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Krasinski though appears to have shot that talk down in his latest Some Good News update saying an included comic on the clip will “be the closest I ever get to playing a comic-book hero”. He then proceeded to pull his famed fourth wall breaking Jim Halpert face from “The Office”.
