Irish actress Saoirse Ronan (“Brooklyn,” “Atonement”), currently doing press for “Mary Queen of Scots,” has confirmed to Gold Derby she’s set to star in the ensemble cast of Wes Anderson’s new film “The French Dispatch”.
Asked if she’s a part of it she says: “Yeah, yeah. Has that been released? Well, it has now. [laughs]. Yeah, in the spring.” Ronan joins a cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Benicio Del Toro, Jeffrey Wright, and Timothee Chalamet.
The project marks a re-teaming of Anderson and Ronan who previously worked together on “The Grand Budapest Hotel”. It also marks the third time Ronan and Chalamet have starred together following “Lady Bird” and the upcoming “Little Women” remake.
Ronan’s comment confirms reports that shooting on the new Anderson film won’t begin until well into 2019 so a debut in 2020 seems highly likely – potentially at Cannes.
