Ron Howard’s “Species” Sets All-Star Cast

MGM, EON, Universal Pictures

Ana De Armas, Jude Law, Alicia Vikander and Daniel Brühl are all attached to Ron Howard’s new survival thriller “Origin of the Species” at Imagine Entertainment and AGC Studios.

The project is an erotic and darkly comic tale of murder and survival, set around a group of eclectic characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos.

All search for the answer to that ever-pressing question – what is the meaning of life? The film is said to be based on two different accounts of the same true story.

“Tetris” film scribe Noah Pink penned the script, and filming is slated to begin in the fourth quarter of this year in Queensland, Australia.

The project is being sold at the Cannes market, which is expected to do bigger business this year due to the writer’s strike, as projects that are either completed or have scripts ready to go will be in more demand to help fill holes in release schedules made by productions that have to be put on hold.

Howard most recently helmed the Thai cave rescue thriller “Thirteen Lives” starring Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell, and Joel Edgerton for Amazon.
