Alfonso Cuaron’s “ROMA” is now available on Netflix worldwide, riding a wave of some of the best reviews of the year and getting raves for its sumptuous black-and-white visual look.
To ensure people at home are seeing it in the best possible light though, Netflix has now released a helpful guide to calibrating your television to get it as close to a theatrical experience as possible – and this guide goes way beyond the basic ‘Turn off Motion Smoothing’ advice of most.
In fact the guide goes into proper specifics from setting the Color Temperature to Normal (not cool or warm1/warm2), enabling HDR (Dolby Vision if possible), setting Gamma levels, setting up cinema mode, adjusting brightness/contrast/backlight, turning off overscan, and turning off basically all advanced settings with a breakdown of what to do with the four major brands of television – Samsung, LG, Vizio and Sony.
It’s a very good calibration guide for all movie and TV content. The full guide can be found at MyRomaMovie.com/Best-Viewing-Practices.
