Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” “See How They Run”) and Kumail Nanjiani (“Welcome to Chippendales,” “Eternals”) have closed deals to star in the dark comedy “A Guy Walks Into a Bar” which hails from “Runaway Jury” director Gary Fleder.

Scott Rosenberg (“Jumanji: The Next Level,” “Venom”) penned the film about a mild-mannered new father (Nanjiani) who befriends a charismatic yet mysterious man (Rockwell) at a bar, and soon suspects him of concealing a troubling secret.

The project has secured an Interim Agreement from SAG-AFTRA, allowing the film to be worked on even with the actor’s strike ongoing, and will go into production on location in New Jersey before year’s end.

Fleder and Rosenberg previously collaborated on cult film “Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead”. Both will produce alongside Rockwell, Mark Fasano, Nadine de Barros and Jina Panebianco.

Rockwell will be nex be seen in Matthew Vaughn’s “Argylle” in February, whilst Nanjiani is attached to Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s spin-off film “Thread: An Insidious Tale”.
