Sony’s first State of Play for 2023 has offered an extended look at Rocksteady Studios’ “Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League” game due out later this year.
While the event itself was mostly focused on PS VR2 titles following the headset’s launch yesterday, there were some third-party games shown off along with this glimpse of new ‘Squad’ gameplay with the core characters Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang
In the clip, The Flash has been corrupted by Brainiac and they have to stop him to save Lex Luthor. Wonder Woman also shows up in the clip for the game which appears to be a “live-service looter shooter” according to Kotaku.
A second behind-the-scenes video reveals that the game is set in the same world as the “Batman: Arkham” games and takes place half a decade after ‘Arkham Knight’.
Brainiac has taken over the world and Amanda Waller has recruited the Suicide Squad to help her save it from corrupted superheroes. The game is set in Metropolis, which offers a very different feel from Gotham City seen in the Arkham games.
Rocksteady says they plan to keep updating the game, adding new weapons, playable characters, and a cosmetic-only battle pass, too. “Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League” arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 26th.
