Roblox Game “99 Nights” Becomes A Film

Grandma’s Favourite Games

20th Century Studios has picked up theatrical film rights to the popular “99 Nights in the Forest,” a title within Roblox from developer Grandma’s Favourite Games.

The project marks the first time since the Disney acquisition that 20th Century is tackling a feature adaptation of a video game. Prior to that, their attempts fizzled including “Hitman” and “Assassin’s Creed”.

No writer, director or producers are attached at this stage. Alec Kieft, Matthew Hufton, and Cameron Angland will serve as executive producers, the trio developed the original game.

The action-survival game, which came out less than a year ago, follows players who must endure 99 nights in a haunted forest while attempting to rescue four lost children and fight the vicious creatures inhabiting the deep woods.

The title is already the seventh most played game of all time on Roblox with nearly 26 billion lifetime visits, a player rating of 90.6%, and a 14.2 million all-time peak player count.

To this day, it still hosts hundreds of thousands of concurrent players.
