In the wake of their success with “Riverdale,” The CW will expand its small screen Archie universe with “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” in the works.
The one-hour drama from Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television reimagines “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and witchcraft.
Sabrina herself is a half-witch, half-mortal standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.
“Riverdale” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is writing the adaptation which could debut in the 2018-19 season. Lee Toland Krieger will direct and executive produce with Aguirre-Sacasa, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater.
