Ritchie’s “Fortune” Finally Sets A U.S. Release

Lionsgate

Lionsgate has finally locked down a March 3rd U.S. release date for Guy Ritchie’s new action-comedy “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre”.

In the film, super spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham) must track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology wielded by billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant).

Reluctantly teamed with some of the world’s best operatives (Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone), Fortune and his crew recruit Hollywood’s biggest movie star Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) to help them on their globe-trotting undercover mission to save the world.

The film has been the subject of numerous delays due to issues of its original distributor STX and was originally set to release back in January 2022. It was already late last year in several international markets and has made $28.8 million at the global box-office thus far.

Ritchie directs the film from a screenplay by himself, Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies following their previous team-ups on “The Gentlemen” and “Wrath of Man”. Reviews for this new entry have been mixed/good.

Ritchie also has “The Covenant” on the way starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim with that premiering April 21st, recently began shooting “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” and has the live-action adaptation of Disney’s “Hercules” to come on his schedule.
