“Rings of Power” Begins Filming Season 2

Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” series has started filming its next season with filming kicking off today at Bray Studios just outside London.

Filming is also slated to take place around Edinburgh, Scotland and surrounding locations. The first season was shot over 18 months during the pandemic with the new run’s location considered to be more economical.

In addition the character of Círdan, one of the oldest and wisest of the elves, is expected to join the ensemble. The role has yet to be cast.

The news follows on from the show’s first official Nielsen ratings reveal which indicated the series topped the streaming charts for its debut week with 1.3 billion minutes viewed.

The first season airs its seventh and penultimate episode this week.
