Filmmaker Ridley Scott will team with acclaimed scribe and “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight on the ten-episode WW2 epic drama series “Roads to Freedom”.
Based on Sir Antony Beevor’s books, the main aim of the project is to bring fresh and unique perspectives to war stories with inclusions of viewpoints from men, women and children from Russia, Germany, France and other countries across the globe.
The show gives them as much weight as characters from English-speaking western countries as opposed to much of the genre which has been dominated by American and British male perspectives.
Scott plans to direct the launch episode, and while Knight and Beevor will write all episodes. All three executive produce alongside PJ van Sandwijk, Michael Lesslie, David W. Zucker and Marina Brackenbury.
