“Rick and Morty” Team On Voice Recasting

Adult Swim

Though co-creator Justin Roiland has exited, the seventh season of the animated comedy “Rick and Morty” is still very much on the way. Roiland was fired earlier this year and is set to be replaced as the voices of Rick and Morty, among others, on the show.

During a panel for the series at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, executive producer Steve Levy confirmed that the production team is ‘closing in’ on finalising their recasting of Roiland.

In addition, the seventh season so far is: “gonna be great. I am thoroughly impressed with everything that’s going on, including all the work on season seven.” As for when it will debut, Levy says only: “Pretty dang soon”.

Levy confirmed the new voices would be “soundalikes… the characters are the same characters – no change.” The series has a major deal that will see it continuing through to at least a tenth season and so whomever is hired will get several years of work.

This follows on from Hulu revealing that Dan Stevens would take over Roiland’s lead voice role as Korvo in “Solar Opposites” – the recasting and Korvo’s very different voice explained as being an accident due to a ‘voice fixing ray’.

Stevens’ gig on that show, its fourth season, begins on Hulu on August 14th, with a new trailer for the new season available below:
