With the exit of “Game of Thrones” duo David Benioff and D.B. Weiss from the “Star Wars” franchise and with Lucasfilm’s future regarding “Star Wars” on the big screen still a big question mark, there’s the obvious question as to whether Rian Johnson was still planning to make his trilogy of films announced a few years back.
Johnson himself has put that concern to rest, confirming that he’s still working on a “Star Wars” project. Speaking at a Deadline event (via The Playlist), he says: “We’re still engaged with Lucasfilm and we’ll wait and see. No updates on it at this moment, but yeah (we’re still working on it).”
In the wake of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” Johnson saw himself the target of petitions to not only be removed from the franchise but to have his film struck from canon or even remade.
