Reynolds Plans “Thunderbolt & Lightfoot” Remake

Amazon MGM Studios

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly developing a remake of the 1974 action comedy “Thunderbolt & Lightfoot” for Amazon MGM Studios.

Clint Eastwood starred as a bank robber disguised as a preacher and on the run from his old gang that mistakenly believes he double-crossed them.

When he meets up with Lightfoot (Jeff Bridges), a low-level street thief, the two come up with a plan to team with the old gang for a new bank job.

Nothing goes as intended. The film would mark the debut of director Michael Cimino, who then went on to win an Oscar for his work on 1978’s “The Deer Hunter” before delivering the infamous 1980 bomb “Heaven’s Gate”.

Reynolds is eyeing to star in the remake and will produce alongside his team at his Maximum Effort production label.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” editor Shane Reid will make his directorial debut with the project, while Reynolds is also collaborating on the script with writers Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson (“The Kingdom,” “Fargo”).
