The next PlayStation exclusive getting a PC port has been announced by Sony Interactive Entertainment, who confirm “Returnal” will be released on PC on February 15th.
In addition to the date announcement, a trailer has been released for the PC version, which will add support for ray-traced reflections, resolutions with Ultrawide at 21:9 and Super Ultrawide 32:9 aspect ratios, and assorted NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR capabilities.
NVIDIA NIS has also been added for those players who also want to see an increase in performance but don’t have the hardware to support DLSS or FSR. The specs suggest at least an RTX 2070 is recommended for play.
Climax Studios (“Silent Hill: Origins,” “Silent Hill: Shattered Memories”) is behind the port which also boasts Dolby Atmos, two 3D audio solutions, or 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound.
Though the game supports customisable keyboard and mouse controls, it is best experienced on a DualSense controller with full haptic feedback and adaptive triggers available for PC.
Housemarque released the title for PlayStation 5 in April 2021, its largest and most ambitious title to date. The story follows an astronaut who lands on the planet Atropos in search of the mysterious ‘White Shadow’ signal and finds herself trapped in a time loop.
The game was widely praised and pulled in a very good 86/100 on Metacritic. The port comes in the wake of multiple PS5-to-PC ports last year including both “Spider-Man” games, “God of War,” “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves” collection, and “Sackboy: A Big Adventure”.
