The “Resident Evil” film reboot has been pushed back nearly three months – moving from September 3rd to November 24th.

The delay comes as one of the film’s stars, “Black Sails” and “The Umbrella Academy” actor Tom Hopper, has talked up the project’s faithfulness to the original two games.

As we know, “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” is much more of a horror tale than the loosely based six-film action film franchise that came before this and is set in Raccoon City in 1998.

This will show both the Spencer Mansion and the city itself, the settings of the first and second games respectively, with Hopper telling Collider that the Spencer Mansion recreation is so detailed that “it was a bit like going into one of those VR things… that’s what it was like; it was like playing the game.”

Hopper S.T.A.R.S. police force leader Albert Wesker and says his character for example is more grounded and real than the version from the games, as is the setting

“I feel like the Wesker in the game obviously has that [Agent] Smith from The Matrix type idea. I wanted him to be a bit more three-dimensional than that and have a moral high ground. It’s not just as cut and dry as it is in the game.

When I started reading it, it really felt more like a script from a game, from one of the games. It felt immersive, and it felt dirtier. It felt like Raccoon City was a grim place to be, and I immediately felt like it was a world that I related to more than anything. I’ve seen towns like this in America. That’s what excited me about it that it felt relatable, I think.”

Johannes Roberts helms the film which also stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Avan Jogia, Donal Logue and Neal McDonough.
