Sony Pictures has announced a July 25th release date for their new CG animated feature “Resident Evil: Death Island” along with releasing a new official trailer which you can see below.
The project serves as a sequel to 2017’s “Resident Evil: Vendetta” and the 2021 mini-series “Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness”.
In the new entry, the fourth animated film in the franchise overall, D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit.
Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently.
Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them. Eiichiro Hasumi directs from a script by Makoto Fukami.
The film stars Kevin Dorman as Chris Redfield, Stephanie Panisello as Claire Redfield, Matthew Mercer as Leon Kennedy, Nicole Tompkins as Jill Valentine, and Erin Cahill as Rebecca Chambers.
“Assassin Classroom: Graduation” director Eiichiro Hasumi directed the film, while Makoto Fukami (“Psycho-Pass”) penned the script.
“Resident Evil: Death Island” will be coming July 25th to physical (DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K) and digital storefronts, just a few weeks after the film’s Japanese release date of July 7th.
