A filmmaker knows they’ve done something that’s at the very least interesting when someone starts a petition demanding for the work to be completely reshot due to it not meeting an expectation.
Over the years, fans have started such petitions asking for a ‘do over’ of various works ranging from Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” to the final season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones”.
Now David Gordon Green’s “Halloween Ends” has become the latest subject of a Change.org petition with fans upset about the film with its focus more on the new character of Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) than either Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) or killer Michael Myers.
The petition says the new film “left us sad, mad, disappointed, and Infuriated. Please give us a movie that shows us what Halloween is really about.” As of writing, the petition is several hundred shy of 5,000 signatures.
These sorts of petitions have proven very ineffective in the past, but there’s little question the new film has been arguably the most polarising entry in the franchise since “Halloween III: Season of the Witch” – a film that has seen its appreciation has grown with time.
“Halloween Kills” is in cinemas now and is also available on Peacock.
