Having previously teamed on the acclaimed thriller feature “Wind River,” actor Jeremy Renner and writer/director Taylor Sheridan are reuniting for the new TV series “Mayor of Kingstown” for the Paramount+ service.
The series follows the McLusky family – power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series offers a stark look at attempts to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
The straight-to-series prison drama, originally developed for the Paramount Network, also has Antoine Fuqua onboard as executive producer.
The project is one of six series Sheridan will have operating for the streaming service. Along with the big rating “Yellowstone,” he has two spin-offs planned. The first is the already announced prequel “Y: 1883,” while the other is the just-announced “6666” which will see Jefferson White and Ryan Bingham reprising their respective roles as ranch hands Jimmy Hurdstrom and Walker in a series about a two-centuries-old ranch that encompasses an entire county.
Sheridan also has the previously announced spy drama “Lioness,” and the just-announced “Land Man” about the roughnecks and wildcat billionaires involved in the West Texas oil industry which is reshaping the country’s climate, economy and geopolitics.
