Amazon has set an October 6th launch date for “Foe,” the new movie from “Lion” filmmaker Garth Davis. Based on the Ian Reid novel and set in the not-too-distant future, Oscar nominees Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal star in what’s dubbed a “haunting exploration of marriage and identity set in an uncertain world” and explores questions of humanity and artificial humanity. Fast X
Universal Pictures has announced that “Fast X” is set for a September 15th launch on its Peacock streaming service. That SVOD premiere arrives four months after the film’s theatrical release in mid-May.
In addition, “Fast and Furious 6,” “The Fate of the Furious” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” will also hit the service that day while “Furious 7” will join them on October 1st. [Source: Universal Pictures]
Dumb Money
Sony Pictures’ GameStop meme investors movie “Dumb Money” is shifting from a planned September 22nd wide release to a platform one with an LA/NYC opening on September 15th.
That will be followed by limited releases over the next two weekends ahead of its wide rollout on October 6th. That wide release takes over the slot Sony pushed “Kraven the Hunter” from. [Source: Sony Pictures]
American Horror Stories
FX has announced that Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s anthology series “American Horror Stories” is set to return with a four-episode Halloween event series set for premiere on October 26th on Hulu. Casting wise it’s only known that Lisa Rinna will headline an episode titled “Tapeworm”. [Source: FX]
Last Voyage of the Demeter
After crashing on rocks in the U.S., Universal’s Dracula tale “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” was going to hit the UK this week but has been pulled from release – though that’s expected to be less about the U.S. box-office performance and more to do with distributor eOne being sold off to Lionsgate – so it’s unclear when the film will hit UK shorts. Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain
Peacock has released the first-look photos for adventure comedy feature “Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain” which hails from SNL breakouts Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, and Ben Marshall.
In the film, the characters embark on treasure hunting journey. Conan O’Brien and Bowen Yang co-star in the movie which has also been announced as being available on streaming on November 17th.
