Reedus Talks McBride’s “Dead” Departure

Reedus Talks Mcbrides Dead Departure
AMC

Last week came the news that actress Melissa McBride was exiting the proposed “Daryl and Carol” spin-off of AMC’s flagship series “The Walking Dead”.

The previously announced spinoff focused on Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon and McBride’s Carol Peletier and was to be set and filmed in Europe this summer ahead of a premiere next year.

Relocating to Europe became “logistically untenable” for McBride who opted out of the show. As a result, the series is being retooled to focus solely on Reedus’ character and has scored a new showrunner in the process.

Now Reedus has broken his silence on McBride’s exit, appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” he says twelve years is a gruelling schedule for anyone (referring to her tenure on the main show). He also offers hope the duo could eventually reunite:

“She wanted to take some time off and she’s doing that. She deserves it. I imagine those characters are going to meet back up at some point, and they might even meet up with some other characters down the road. In the meantime, [AMC] was like, ‘Hey, you wanna go on a mission?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, let’s go on a mission.'”

Not much is known about the show which will see David Zabel serving as showrunner now after Angela Kang exited. Reedus remains the only cast member officially attached and no writers have been announced.

McBride’s Carol will still get eight more episodes of the main series with the final block of the eleventh and final season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” set to premiere on AMC this Fall.
