“Red Dead Redemption” Remaster Shelved?

Tech outlet Kotaku has reportedly confirmed via its sources that Rockstar Games has shelved all its planned remasters – namely “Red Dead Redemption” and “Grand Theft Auto IV”.

Tez, an often reliable GTA insider, originally broke the news yesterday saying the remasters were no longer “on the table”. Part of the reasoning appears to be the critically panned and buggy mess that was the “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition” remasters released late last year.

According to the outlet’s sources, the publisher is “hoping that folks will forget” about those remasters, which hadn’t gone into full production anyway, and will instead focus its resources and energy on its next big game “Grand Theft Auto VI”.

The current plan is to get that title finished and out the door, and the outlet adds the remasters aren’t entirely scrapped and may eventually happen but if they do – it’ll be years away and well after GTA6 ships. There currently is no date for when “Grand Theft Auto VI” might arrive.
