Rebecca Ferguson On Past Co-Star Comments

Universal Pictures

Early last year, during “Dune: Part Two” promotion, “Mission: Impossible” and “Silo” actress Rebecca Ferguson set the cat amongst the pigeons when she discussed on-set behaviour.

The actress shared a story about an “absolute idiot of a co-star” on a project she was in, not saying their name but indicating they were “number one on the call sheet,” and that person screamed at her, which prompted her to stand up and refuse to shoot scenes with them for the rest of the production.

The comments went viral, sparking a guessing game as people scoured her past filmography and shouted out suggestions. Ferguson herself said it wasn’t Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman or Ryan Reynolds, and both Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt have publicly denied it was them.

Currently out promoting Kathryn Bigelow’s “A House of Dynamite,” she was asked to reflect on the comments now and was asked by The Times if she had heard from the actor since her comments.

She said she hasn’t and that “I don’t care” and noted “other people who have worked with this person also had a sh—y time”. That said, she indicated the whole situation was rather “complex” and the paper paraphrased a quote suggesting she wasn’t entirely blameless.

They did add a quote directly from her, saying:

“I will shove someone under a bus in front of an entire crew to make a point. I don’t applaud my own behaviour in that. It’s a really tricky world. We put a lot of blame on bullies and when we get older we can understand that people are insecure. When you start standing up for yourself, it’s really tricky. They’ll fire you and give the job to someone else.”

Past leading stars of Hollywood films with Ferguson in them include Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Grant, Ewan McGregor and Chris Hemsworth.
