“Blue Story” director Andrew ‘Rapman’ Onwubolu has been set to helm the thriller “A Prophet,” a remake of famed 2009 French feature of the same name at Paramount Players.
Jacques Audiard helmed the original film which followed an Arab man (Tahar Rahim) sent to a French prison, where he becomes a mafia kingpin.
The remake follows an American man, who after falling under the control of a ruthless mobster while in prison, builds a multiracial crime syndicate. He then takes down his mentor, and earns a place for his crew alongside the Italian and Russian mafias.
The project marks Rapman’s first directing gig and is penned by Dennis Lehane and produced by Neal H. Moritz. Casting is underway on the film which was previously setup at Sony under the title “American Son”.
