Radcliffe, Fry, Beckham Read Out “Harry Potter”

J.K. Rowling’s immensely popular “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” the first book in the series that spawned the megahit film franchise, is set to be read by a lineup of celebrities.

Chapter-by-chapter, famed talents will read out the whole seventeen-chapter book in a series of free videos and audio recordings to be doled out over the next several months.

The first seven readers handling much of the first part of the book include “Harry Potter” film star himself Daniel Radcliffe, British national treasure and ‘Potter’ audiobook narrator Stephen Fry, football star David Beckham, “Fantastic Beasts” actress Claudia Kim, and celebrated actors Dakota Fanning, Noma Dumezweni and Eddie Redmayne.

All 17 chapters of the book will be released between now and mid-summer with videos to be posted weekly on harrypotterathome.com, and an audio-only version available for free on Spotify. Radcliffe kicks off with the first chapter which is available for streaming today in video at WizardingWorld.com and in audio at Spotify.

With over 500 million copies sold to date, Rowling’s seven “Harry Potter” novels are the best-selling book series in history and the first book has sold more than 120 million editions – making it the best-selling book of the series.
