61-year-old “Heat” and “Saving Private Ryan” actor Tom Sizemore has died. The actor passed on Friday at a hospital in Burbank after spending two weeks in a coma following his suffering of a stroke and brain aneurysm on February 18th.
His manager Charles Lago confirmed Sizemore passed away peacefully in his sleep at St Joseph’s Hospital, with his brother Paul and twin boys Jayden and Jagger at his side.
Sizemore first appeared in a small role in the Stallone-led “Lock Up,” before segueing into some major films even before he did those aforementioned Mann and Spielberg masterpieces.
He worked with Oliver Stone on “Born on the Fourth of July” and “Natural Born Killers”, Tony Scott on “True Romance” and “Enemy of the State”, Lawrence Kasdan on “Wyatt Earp” and “Dreamcatcher”, and Kathryn Bigelow on “Blue Steel,” “Point Break” and “Strange Days”.
Other works have included Ridley Scott’s “Black Hawk Down,” Martin Scorsese’s “Bringing Out the Dead,” Peter Hyam’s “The Relic,” John Milius’ “Flight of the Intruder,” Carl Franklin’s “Devil in a Blue Dress,” along with films like “Passenger 57,” “Red Planet,” “Play It to the Bone,” “Striking Distance,” “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man,” and “Get Carter”.
He also had regular or recurring roles on shows like “Crash,” “Dr. Vegas” and “China Beach”. He scored a Golden Globe nomination for his work in the mini-series “Witness Protection”. More recently he was seen in the Netflix hit “Cobra Kai” and Showtime’s 2017 revival of David Lynch’s cult classic “Twin Peaks”.
The actor’s controversial personal life has been well documented including issues with substance abuse along with charges of domestic violence and allegations of abuse. Sizemore has been open about his various struggles in the past.
