Queen Elizabeth II has died, aged 96.
The British royal was the world’s second longest-serving monarch (behind only Louis XIV of France) after ruling for 70 years. She will be replaced by her son, Prince Charles the Prince of Wales.
Her passing comes shortly after the death of her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, who died last year aged 99. In her time, Elizabeth oversaw the reign of fifteen Prime Ministers.
She is survived by Charles and her other three children, Andrew, Anne and Edward, along with grandchildren, including Prince William and Prince Harry.
Elizabeth has been the subject of many films and TV shows with legendary acting talent playing the late monarch. Helen Mirren played her in 2006’s “The Queen” for which Mirren won the Best Actress Oscar. Olivia Colman, Imelda Staunton and Claire Foy have played her at different points in time in Netflix’s “The Crown”.
Jeannette Charles notably played her several times on film, including “The Naked Gun,” “Austin Powers in Goldmember”, and “National Lampoon’s European Vacation”.
Other portrayals include Penelope Wilton in “The BFG,” Joanna Lumley in “Gangsta Granny,” Jennifer Saunders in “Minions,” Sarah Gadon in “A Royal Night Out,” Prunella Scales in “Johnny English,” Rachel Wallis in “Her Majesty,” Julie Walters in “The Queen’s Corgi,” and June Squibb in “7 Days in Hell”.
That’s not all with Kristin Scott Thomas, Frances de la Tour, Emma Thompson, Jane Alexander, Samantha Bond, Rosemary Leach, Debra Stephenson, Carolyn Sadowska, Sheila Steafel, Amanda Walker, Elisabeth Dermot Walsh, Neve Campbell and more have all voiced or portrayed her across TV, film or stage.
