Famed comedian and actor Jerry Stiller has died at the age of 92. A statement from his son, actor/filmmaker Ben Stiller, says his father passed away from natural causes.
Stiller had a long career in film and television. He was the father of Leah Remini’s character in “The King of Queens” and of Jason Alexander’s character in “Seinfeld,” a regular on the former and a frequent guest star on the latter.
On film he played a mobster in Richard Lester’s “The Ritz,” appeared in the original “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three,” “Airport 1975,” both “Zoolander” films, “The Heartbreak Kid” and both film versions of “Hairspray”.
Stiller departs five years after the passing of his and frequent comedy partner and wife of 61 years Anne Meara who died in May 2015. They are survived by Ben and his sister Amy Stiller.
I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad. pic.twitter.com/KyoNsJIBz5
